The U-frame is an excellent alternative to the traditional bow gate or Frame & Gate. With no overhead frame, you’re no longer restricted by height. Available in heights of 5’ or 6’ and widths from 8’ to 18’.

Clear Access, Clear View
With no overhead frame, you have one less thing to hit with your tractor (or your head). If you need to move something that is wider than the gate opening and you can lift it higher than the U-frame then you’re free to carry on without impediment. Additionally, because there are no overhead frames, you will now have a clear, unobstructed view of your corrals.
Wider Openings
Your typical overhead frames with built-in gate are available up to 12’ wide. U-frames however will allow for a 16’ wide gate in an 18’ wide U-frame. The extra four feet may be what you need to provide access for your farm tractors and heavy equipment.
An economical alternative to the traditional overhead bow gate
You can save money by not investing in a lot of extra steel above your head. If you are considering a 10’ or 12’ high overhead frame with built-in gate, then the U-frame offers you a more economical option.
Durable Construction
The heavy-duty U-frame is built for strength and durability. The strength of the U-frame is secured in the 4.5” OD, 0.237 wall ground tube foundation. You can be certain that the ground tube will not deflect when the biggest guy you know decides to hang on the end of your 14’ gate.
The strength found in the foundation continues up into an unyielding 13” wide steel trussed hinge post. In addition to adding strength the offset hinge post also provides a safe zone for the handler between the open gate and the outside of the alley.
Adaptable Connectors
The U-frame is designed to connect with any Hi-Hog panel and is an outstanding option for livestock corrals, rodeo facilities, and round pens. No need to worry about putting posts in the ground or having frames overhead.
Installation
When the U-frame is installed correctly the bottom 4.5″ OD rail will be buried in the ground so that the top of the ground tube is even with the top of the ground. When the U-frame is buried the connectors on the end posts are at the standard height for connecting with Hi-Hog’s panels.
There are times however when one might not be able to bury the bottom ground rail. If this is true for your application you don’t need to worry because the connectors for the U-frame have been extended to allow panels and spreaders to still be attached on the end of the U-frame.
U-Frame Selection
Hi-Hog offers the U-frame in both 5’ and 6’ heights. If you own the 5’ high U-frame and you need a 6’ high U-frame you can add the optional 12” extension kit to convert your 5’ high U-Frame to a 6’ high U-frame.

Select the gate of your choice
The 5’ high U-frame will accommodate:
- 48” high corral gate with chain
- 48” high corral gate with 7/8” plunger latch (see note below)
- 48” high heavy-duty gate with chain
- 48” high heavy-duty gate with 7/8” plunger latch
NOTE: If you select the corral gate with 7/8" plunger latch you will need to weld a new striker plate (item 1648) to the U-frame to line-up with the corral plunger latch.
The 6’ high U-frame will accommodate:
- 59.25” high heavy-duty gate with chain
- 59.25” high heavy-duty gate with plunger latch
The hinge post of the U-frame comes with sleeves designed to accommodate Hi-Hog’s corral gates or heavy-duty gates. All of these gates include adjustable hinges so you can be assured you will always be able to adjust the position and level of your gate. Additionally, because the gate is a separate option, your gate can be easily removed and/or replaced.
